October is officially Tyre Safety Month, and while we’re approaching its end, the message is still important. It’s surprising that so many motorists still don’t look after their tyres considering they are the only thing between you and the road.

Earlier in the year, TyreSafe conducted a comprehensive survey looking into tyre tread depth at the point of replacement. The survey found that over one quarter of motorists (27%) were replacing tyres which had already past the point of being road legal.

The survey predicted that potentially there are close to 10 million illegal and dangerous tyres on UK roads today.

Tyre Safety Month is intended to raise awareness about tyre checks. According to TyreSafe one in five motorists have never even check their tyres, so there’s still a lot of work to be done.

At We Buy Posh Cars deals we deal with high performance sports vehicles, and we know it’s absolutely crucial to keep them in good shape. Not just to protect your investment, but more importantly for safety.

Tread depth affects the way your vehicle accelerates, brakes and corners. Safe tyres with legal tread depth will reduce the risks to you, your passengers and all road users.

Moreover driving on tyres with illegal tread depth not only affects your safety on the road but also risks a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each illegal tyre.

TyreSafe recommends motorists check their tyre’s Air pressure, Condition and Tread depth at least once a month. There’s some really useful information on their website here:http://www.tyresafe.org/tyre-safety/tyre-safety-information
